Investing in local communities and supporting the development of young people to become change-makers and leaders who solve societal challenges will underpin Citywide’s continuing partnership with The Huddle.
Established in 2010 by the North Melbourne Football Club, the Scanlon Foundation and the Australian Multicultural Foundation, The Huddle works to build more socially inclusive communities across North Melbourne and Wyndham by supporting young people to learn, grow and belong.
“These two regions continue to change and grow rapidly, as do the needs of these communities, particularly in this current COVID-19 climate,” said Citywide Chief Executive Chris Campbell.
“This presents a great opportunity for us to support ongoing investment and development in these communities and especially their young people through the amazing work of The Huddle.”
Social Licence
Citywide has been a corporate partner of The Huddle since 2016, creating employment and training opportunities through facilitated work experience placements, internships and ultimately full-time employment for local area students and school leavers.

As a community-facing business like ours, having a social licence to operate is essential for us to continue serving our customers and their community constituents,” says Chris.
“Our Corporate Social Responsibility framework is predicated on solving key issues of concern to the community and, in particular, our local government customers.
“These issues include the provision of education, training and jobs; social justice and wellbeing; and, youth opportunities.
“For Citywide, our continuing partnership with The Huddle is a natural extension to our every-day work we do in service to our host communities, in line with our Vision and Purpose.”
Forming part of The Huddle’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Family Support Package (FSP), Citywide’s sponsorship commitment will continue to support young people and their families in the North Melbourne, Flemington, Ascot Vale and Wyndham regions in their recovery from COVID-19.
All proceeds of the FSP will go directly toward the continued support of children and young people within our communities, providing access to online education, recreation, and vocational activities.
Cameron McLeod, Chief Executive Officer of The Huddle, said the extended partnership during such uncertain times was a testament to the strength and importance Citywide places on community.
“Our long-standing partnership with Citywide has seen many young people supported through their individual journeys,” said Mr McLeod.
“I am pleased that we can continue to work together to provide young people and their families support during such uncertain times.
“Together we will continue to provide a safe and inclusive environment to help empower children, young people and families of multicultural backgrounds to Learn, Grown and Belong.”
The FSP will also provide one-off emergency funding to meet essential household needs and unanticipated costs associated with the impact of COVID-19.
